Place Cards vs Escort Cards
This quick read will help you understand which is best for you and your wedding.
Place cards are used to denote a guest’s seat at their assigned table.
Used in conjunction with a seating chart or escort cards
If your wedding is more casual and you don’t have a preference where a guest sits at their table, place cards may not be necessary. Assigned seating however is often a necessity, read why here.
Escort cards are used to ‘escort’ your guests to their tables. Escort cards will have a table number along with the guest’s name to indicate which table they’re seated at.
Escort cards are usually lined up on a table or wall alphabetically by last name. Guests will pick up this item and take it with them to their seats.
Meal Indicators/Denotations may be required by your caterer if you’ve chosen a plated meal. Colors or symbols can be added to either place cards or escort cards to indicate a guest’s meal choice.
Bonus! Both Place Cards and Escort cards can double as a wedding favor. Rather than providing a favor that most guests will likely leave behind, providing a significant ‘card’ with the guest’s name handwritten can be meaningful.
